Phonics Pathways

Clear Steps to Easy Reading and Perfect Spelling - by Dolores G. Hiskes – 10th Edition

Phonics Pathways is a book with a proven method to get kids reading and spelling.  Reading is not natural, it must be taught.  The book “…teaches students of all ages the basics of phonics with a time-tested, foolproof method.”  Dolores Hiskes has tutored reading for more than 30 years. During that time, she developed a unique teaching method that prevents or corrects reversals (pg.266). She organized and simplified the method into Phonics Pathways, which has won “Best Phonics Program in the Country” five times. You do not need to be a teacher to successfully implement her process.  Her method is clear, concise and easy to understand.

My perspective as a parent of a neurodivergent learner, is that using Dolores’s method to teach my son phonics has improved his reading, spelling and self-expression which in turn builds his self-confidence as a student.  I recommend this book to parents. You will be able to help your child with reading. And, you will learn about dyslexia, eye teaming, eye tracking, the importance of a large font size, all of the variables that go into being a reader which in turn will make you a better advocate for your child.
